Symptoms

Attempt to create a datalink fails reporting:

Network Device Missing or Malfunctioning

The committed network configuration refers to a device <INTERFACE>, but the device is either missing or malfunctioning.
Accordingly, references to <INTERFACE> have been removed from all displayed datalinks and interfaces.

Objects no longer associated with any device must be deleted or updated to use another device before further networking changes can be committed.
