SGD: Desktop Sessions Closing With Error Gdk-WARNING: mate-session: Fatal IO error 11 (Doc ID 2830358.1)

Symptoms

Customer is experiencing SGD sessions closing on him while they are still active and being used (keyboard/mouse input, display updates, etc.).

The sessions are indeed closed/destroyed; there is no "resume" button to continue, and he must open a new application session. 

We see the following error logged on the application server of "Gdk-WARNING: mate-session: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server".
