Last updated on JULY 20, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 19.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This problem may happen on multi standby configuration with Data Guard Broker.

Multi standby configuration means there are 2 or more standby databases are configured for primary database.

After completing failover on Standby A, Standby A becomes Primary Role, and Standby B still exists as Standby Role of Standby A (= New Primary).

But after completing failover, "show configuration" command returns ORA-16856.

WARNING: ORA-16856 transport lag could not be determined
