Symptoms

After upgrading The Infiniband Switch to Firmware Version 2.2.16-9 or later you may see SNMP WARNING: messages when logging in:


Keyboard-interactive authentication prompts from server:
End of keyboard-interactive prompts from server
You are now logged in to the root shell.
It is recommended to use ILOM shell instead of root shell.
All usage should be restricted to documented commands and documented
config files.
To view the list of documented commands, use "help" at linux prompt.

WARNING: Use of SNMP version v1 is insecure.
Please disable SNMP version v1.

WARNING: Use of SNMP version v2c is insecure.
Please disable SNMP version v2c.

WARNING: Use of SNMP community string: 'private' is insecure.
Please delete SNMP community string: private.

WARNING: Use of SNMP community string: 'public' is insecure.
Please delete SNMP community string: public.


The Warnings are because the switch is configured to allow Enterprise Manager (or any SNMP agent) to "Manage" the switch.
Allowing this access with v1 or v2c and/or using the community strings of "public" or "private" is not considered secure.
